Hi all
I would like to know what you all think. I now have had a Lortone Model 33B running off and on now for a long time and I have the tumbler in my bedroom wake in closet. The noise of the Lortone Model 33B dose not bother me at all when the closet door is shut. I am thinking about getting a Lortone Model QT6 Single 6 lb tumbler. How much more noise will this tumbler make then the 33B?
Thanks Roger

I have a 33B and also the QT66 with 2 - 6 lb barrels. It makes a similar sound, only louder. I would estimate that it's about 2-3 time as loud.

I also have QT66's and would agree that they might be 2-3 times as loud, maybe not even that. The barrels do a good job at absorbing the sound, but the larger barrels produce more noise because the rocks tumble further. In the winter, I keep all my tumblers indoors in a spare bedroom without any annoyance or troubles.
I would strongly suggest the QT66 over the QT6 due to the pricing and the fact that for a few dollars more, you can get into 12lb's instead of 6lbs. It's far more economical than the single barrel, but it will add a bit more noise. The 6lb models are excellent for tumbling rough!
Good luck!

yea and with the qt66 you can buy a 12lb barrel later and do one larger load if you want and keep the 6lb barrels for the next two grit stages

Plus you don't have to worry about the weight of the rocks with the QT6 or QT66 because it uses the same motor as the QT12. I have blocks of packing foam covering 3 sides of my QT6, leaving the motor end open for cooling. This really deadens the noise to a soft rumble.
