Lowell, I love the work you have been doing on this. It is really an altruistic and wonderful task! I have backlinked your index on my new website, which I just launched yesterday. If you ever decide to backlink websites on your index, any reciprocation would be appreciated. The website is jasperhoundgems.comGo to the favorite links page and you will see your index backlinked. Take care, Craig A. in Ojai

Craig,
Much thanks for this and the kind words regarding the database...!
Please note that the VGMS website does not have the updated links installed yet so those links right now still require a login. Once their information is updated, it will run smoothly as it does on this board. It should be updated this week.
(PS - PM me your phone again...)

Just an FYI.
Been gone for a while for various reasons (work, health, vacation, just plain dead in the head) and been taking a break from my favorite hobby.
Back now - if anyone is interested.
Am working on finishing California, updating everything with new links, and getting this monstrosity moving again.

OMG this is an outstanding thread, the links are not working but once they do I seriously think it should be made into a STICKY. I believe that such an important reference project should be able to be hosted at the RTH site. Too bad the attachment’s maximum size is only 1 mb. I really hope there's something that could be done. BIG THANKS for your outstanding & selfless work Lowell!

Still working on the California Index.
It's 66 MB and 172 pages long presently, and I haven't added the general Jasper section nor the peripheral material.
I'm thinking of putting the updated files on a CD or cheap memory stick and mailing it out to those who distrust downloading off the internet. I'll put a general feeling out on the General posting board and see if I get any feedback.
Meanwhile, I'm still plugging away....

Note: New links added to top of thread provided by John.
I have not used this system, but others have spoken well of it. If you use it, please write a note here and indicate your experience with it.
Thanks,
Lowell

Lowell and Mel, Thanks so much for these indexes. They are wonderful. I just ran across them and they're so helpful. Again, thank you for all your hard work. The dropbox works well also. My husband uses it for images he needs to send out. Keep up the great work..... Deb

2012 Agate Index - California - has been reviewed by Mel. Needs only a couple small corrections and the indexes written. Should by out by New Years. Over 250 pages. Lots of brecciated. Lots of poppies. Lowell

Bob,
I have images of most of what you mentioned, though I'm always looking for additional shots to provide variety, and the Chapinite you sent me a long while back listed as coming from Fort Irwin (I do believe).
Also, I want to thank you for the disc, but my computer couldn't read it. It claimed the disc was empty. I'll try at school when I'm back. My wife even tried to figure it out and came away shrugging.
Still - as always - a huge thanks for your support,
Lowell

HMMMM.... After I burned the photos to the disk I opened them from the disk and everything was OK! Lynn Varon had the same problem with some disks that I had sent her for the article on our club but she eventually figured it out. If you can't get the disk to read on your computer I will saen a new one. I'm using windows 7 so there isn't anything exotic that I am using. Bob

The 2012 Agate Index Vol 4: Northern States is now complete and ready to be accessed. www.mediafire.com/download/hdmx7d1ahnegden/2012_Agate_Index_Vol_4_The_North.pdfFor instructions on how to download, see the initial posting on this thread. At just over 140 pages, it's shorter than the other documents but it hopefully will be an aid to everyone. Huge thanks to Mel (as usual) as this project would not exist without him.
