It's here!!!!!!!!!!!!! thumbler B arrived yesterday i didn't think it was going to be so BIG .Built a shelf in the shop all level and supported well, my son inlaw brought me some material from eastern Washington a coffee can full and a large rock. Can i bust the material up with a hammer ? How small of chunks should they be ? Do i need to weight it or just fill the container 2/3 full?
Thanks in advance

Congrats. I don't know how large the pieces should be as I've never used one - just make sure they are varied. Lots of small and medium, with maybe one or two larger ones per load. I bust up material witha rockhammer. Just make sure to wear eye protection andcover the rock with old jeans, t-shirts or whatever to contain the shrapnel. I also went by the 2/3 rule, always was heavier than the directions (on my Lortone) suggested, but never had a problem. Good luck.

hey i usta put up to 3 inch chunks in my model-B's and they would chug right along and i usta fill as much as 3/4 full with rock then add water to just under the top row of rocks then dump in grit there pretty sturdy and they can realy do a job in 60/90 -- dont skimp on the grit or run time atleast a week strait befor ya open then check to see if you used the grit if you have a good slurry you prob did but if its watery check it might be layin in the bottom then ya might need to add some small chunks to keep the grit movin around

sandsman "nailed" the Model B in his response above. The only thing I might suggest is trying 47/70 SC grit which is marginally coarser than the 60/90.
"Don't skimp on the grit" means use up to a pound (15 tablespoons) for a cycle.
The Model B is solid and will bring oyu many years of happiness. Ignore all those posts where RTH members have blown lids of their smaller rotary barrels.
