Well, I had about 10 or so preforms that I wanted to run through the vibe, but my vibe is humongous - probably about the same capacity as the UV-10. So I scraped together a whole bunch of other stuff, and a couple pounds of ceramics, to get the vibe to work right. All just to shine up 10 preforms. Anyway, I finished the batch up today, and thought I'd share with y'all - everybody needs a laugh once in a while, right? ;D
So, here is the whole batch, minus the ceramics, just dumped on towels on the table.
Then I tried to sort it out into the various species. First I took out the pile of "junk" rocks I keep around for filler. These are just little leavings from the trim saw, some cruddy beach rocks, etc.
Next is a double handful of purplish agates - they are either Burro Creek, or some of Michael John's boysenberry agates. I lost track of my storage system, so I'm not sure. These are all unmolested - that is, I did not attempt to shape any of them before throwing them in the batch.
And then more than a double handful of some gorgeous Arizona petrified wood, also unmolested. I love the variety of patterns and colors in this stuff, but not much of it is big enough to cab satisfactorily.
And this batch of pretty, translucent agates, I know not from where:
And, just for fun, I threw in some other leftovers that I have no other use for: obsidian
rhodonite
weird green obsidian-like stuff
amazonite scraps
and, finally, the cabs and a couple of experiments
I'll post the up-close cabs in the cab area.
Hope y'all enjoy seeing the lengths to which some idiots will go to polish 10 preforms! LOL!
Thanks for lookin!
Tom
