Good Morning all,
This seemed the best spot to ask this question. I have quite a bit of, what seems to be called, Silver Sheen Obsidian. I have cut it both across the vein of silver and perpendicular. The perpendicular cut seems to show the sheen the best but not quite what I expected and in a bright light (Sun), just doesn't seem to, uh - what is the word I am looking for, fluoresce (sp?).
Q - What angle is best to cut this stuff to get the sheen to pop and show up?
Happily cutting up rocks with my Home Depot Tile saw and lapping with the itty bitty little Lortone. This could get expensive cause I am loving it! I can feel a Genie in my future. Hahahahahahahaha

The general advice seems to be somwhere between parallel to 15 degree angle. Of course this assumes that the layers are not coahging orientation through the rock. In cutting Royal Velvet obsidian I found a little less than 15 degrees worked. I have some shene but not yet cut it. Here is some online stuff: rockunandgemunwetblog.com/2009/12/22/how-to-cut-obsidian

I cut my gold sheen parallel to the layers and then cab a high dome. I've also heard 15 degree angle, but haven't tried it myself.

Here's a cab I cut with a high dome and parallel to the layers:

Thanks for all the posts! To Cool!!
I realized that I misspoke about my cutting. I cut parallel to the vein, not perpendicular.
I do like the way the gold one was cut and then cab'd with a high dome. Love It!!! The video is really Cool!
