...is the Blanchard Rock Shop here in NM. Wayne Holland, the proprietor, has a claim in Nevada on a deposit of some gorgeous chatoyant jade that he has named Ghost Jade. I don't think he's been out there to collect recently, as it's a 5 mile hike off a dirt road and he has to carry all the rock back to his truck. He's getting old. Hell, he's probably almost as old as I am. ;D Anyway, I picked up a slab from him a couple of weeks ago and I'm trying to convince Sands to cut me some cabs from it. I'll post photos when I have some time and some light. In the meantime, check out his website and if you ever make it to NM, check out his shop. It's heavenly. The next time you go there, please don't handle the specimens or play on (or with) the bumper car. ;D That shop is way too cool, we don't have anything like that around here. You all out west are soooo lucky!!

Just once, just once I'd love to make an excursion to an area like that. However do to age, and other reasons I doubt that wish will ever come true. Oh well at least I can do it electronically. Ah what a wonderful age I live in.

Been there. Took some of my 6th grade students and we dug for fluorite. They are really nice people who know their stuff. Very friendly which makes even that much better. They usually are at the Deming Rock Show. Will you be going NMRocks? I'll be out there on Saturday, March 11th.

That stuff is really neat. I'm with you Pete, I'd love to make a trip out west before I'm too old to walk anymore.

My favorite local shop is Berg's rock shop over in Prescot WI. The owner is great, very helpfull and his prices are always good.
Another shop that I visited a few years ago when I was at the Tucson show is called Keno's. It's just outside of Tuscon. The owner is a hoot and he has a very good variety of materials at the best prices I've seen. If you go there beware that he doesn't take credit cards and doesn't do web sales. I bought a bunch of Condor agate and a few other things. I had to fly back so I didn't buy everything I wanted. I remember he had a barrel full of good quality rutilated quartz that had me drooling all over myself, dirt cheap to boot. He provides sawing services as well.

Hi all been to the great town lol 4 buildings at most. These people are great the mine is also a great time found 2 five gallon buckets of fluorite with(NOT EASY DIGGING HARD ROCK) galena. The fluorite is a very pretty baby blue highly recommend this place. It is very remote though take all you need with you. Though he may have tools he will let you use. p.s. while there ask to see the trinitite(s.p.) from the trinity site (first nuclear bomb blast) neat but high dollar stuff. George

Ghost Jade is really nice. Looks like it has a lot of serpentine in it.
