Hi everyone, I had read here some years back that 50 pounds of 60-90 silicon carbide could be gotten at Tractor Supply fairly cheaply. I had a look on their website today and couldn't find it. Am I remembering wrong ? Any suggestions on getting grit in bulk fairly cheaply?
Thanks!

Miles Supply had good prices but they were too far away and shipping was too high. Might work for you though

A few years ago some friends bought a ton of 60 grit from a sand blasting company - a lifetime plus supply. The sandblasting company won't sell less than a half a ton ( or ton? ) so I've never seriously checked it out myself.

Miles supply has a store in Elberton, Georgia and I am mining amethyst in the next town over. It looks like I could swing by there and pick up 50 pounds for $65 if I brought my own container. Thanks for the info!

Check out your local industrial supply, some list in the yellow pages as having abrasives. We buy ours in 50# bags.

I swung by there today and got 50 pounds of 90 grit for $55 total after tax! The Georgia location didnt have the 220 grit though. Not having to pay the $7 bucket charge and then the shipping , really made this a good deal. THANKS
