The top of the motor housing has a small hole for oil, a few drops/month will do. I use a little hand pump oil can. I tape a 3/5 index card by my machines with the date last oiled--remindes me when to oil again. Use regular 10w40 automobile engine oil. Don't use 2 cycle oil.

Isn't there one at the front and back of the motor just above the shaft?

Should be a hole above both ends of the shaft. I use 3in1 oil, or sewing machine oil will do. About 3 drops at the end of each batch run. I usually remove the motor from my machines, and clean everything real good between batches. No oil on the shaft bushings. Oil will hold dirt, and wear the bushings out quicker. Don

Most motors in continuous use need oil every 6 months. Over oiling is worse than not oiling if you saturate the motor windings. My first trip to a motor shop I was shown a pump motor the guy pulled apart completely full of grease. Apparently everyone that saw the zerks thought a few squirts would be good. On my Thumlers I oil shaft bearings at beginning of a batch. The motor every 6 months (if in use) and only a drop or two.
