Interesting stuff to work with. Anyway, this one I used both silver (twisted) and gold wire. Even though it is kind of flashy, I still like it! Kind Regards, Bill

I don't think it is too flashy at all. This is quite stunning. Keep up the good work!

A beautiful stone like Charoite deserves beautiful wire work.

I like the mixed metal too. Flashy for some people, but not others. I would have liked better withou curliecues over the stone - but it ain't mine so who gives a rats *ss. Great work.

I love the stone and the wrap. I think the only thing I would do differently would be to bring the top swirls down closer to the cab to close the gap that hair or clothing could get caught in and complete the heart shape there but that is just me. It may be just fine the way it is. I have heard that chariotte is a real pain to cab because of undercutting and splitting at the layers. I am interested to find out what you thought about it because I have not tried it yet. No matter the troubles, it sure turned out great! Fran

Thanks for the comments and suggestions for improvement. I'm relatively new at both making cabs and wire wrapping, and so have lots to learn.
I can't tell you much, as this was my first cab using this material. I didn't find it partcularly difficult to work with, but did notice straight away that it wanted to "feather" (split layers) on the course wheels. As a result, I didn't use the 80 grit wheel as much as I normally would, and instead cut to the line on finer wheels. It appears that those white swirls are... ummm... fiberous? And that is where the material wants to feather. In the end, I still had one edge that feathered ever so slightly. Even though it was going to be hidden under the side wraps, I placed a drop of super glue on it, and then ran it back on the wheels to fix it.
Kind Regards, Bill

Thanks for the tips Bill! I may have to try it now since I know what to look out for. It really is a beautiful stone and wrap! I never get tired of seeing it! Fran
