I haven't seen it yet but I've been know of a guy selling a Lortone Arbor NS8 with hoods and it comes with a 1/2 hp Dayton motor for about $160. www.lortone.com/arbors.htmlHe said it was his grandfathers and has been setting in the garage for 20 years. He thinks it looks like it's still new. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if you think it's worth it. He also has a old Thumlers 15 lb capacity tumbler I could probably pick up for cheep. Thanks, Tim

Used motors go for $50-$75 so probably not a bad deal if bearings good and motor runs. They used light gauge sheet metal so many rusted away over time. If he said "about $160... that of course he expects you to offer less. Chances are cords are bad after 20 years. You might make a package deal with the tumbler. By the way, I replaced noisy bearings in one once. The new bearings sounded exactly the same. I think the tin hood acts like a megaphone amplifying the sound. If there is no play in the bearings they are likely ok.
