Hi Tim,
That depends on how much rock you want to tumble. The UV-10 is 10 lbs., the Lot-O is 4.5 lbs. They're both great tumblers. It takes a lot of rough to keep up with a UV-10.

Personally, I'd probably prefer a smaller unit like the Lot-O or the UV-3. I run 36lbs of rough and generally can only keep up with 3lbs in subsequent stages, 6lbs at best. With the speed of the vibes, you can rip through the later stages a lot more quickly and a smaller bowl will be a lot easier to keep busy.
Make sure you know what you're getting into with a vibe. They require quite a bit more attention than the rotaries and I feel it's important to understand what you're getting into. If you have a fair amount of time on your hands, a vibe would probably be perfect.

Think about the volume you want to produce. In my UV-10, I generally polish about 300 pieces per month, once they have been prepared in a rotary. At best, I generally finish about 100 pendants per month, so I'm tending to accumulate a few shiny rocks.

Hi Tim, I Have a single Lot"O" 4 1/2 lb you can get a double model that does [glow=red,2,300]9 lb[/glow] See the rockshed for further details link below www.therockshed.com/tumbler1.htmlIt is great as 4 1/2 is quite a lot of rock (for me anyway ) the savings are gigantic over rotary, best buy I ever made, Jack Yorkshire uk PS I have a first class recepie if you want that Conrock made up out of 2 years experimentation gets you a glassy Gloss finish from the first attempt Jack Yorkshire uk
