 my degree is in marine biology and it is D--- hard to find a lobster at these altitudes in the open water , although we do find some whales at the local motel pools. Dicky

Great job as usual, and I really like the shell. I enjoy cutting cabs from Paua Shells that I buy whole. The patterns in the shell are awesome and it polishes up like glass.

Jo, it is harder to do than with rocks. The shells are thin and the Mother of Pearl doesn't go all the way through. The shells are curved and when you grind it flat, you can grind away the MOP and end up with just shell. Took me 4 cuts to get 2 scales. KD, the scales come fom the thin edge where the shell is the flattest. Have to work around the worm holes in the shells, also. Sometimes you cant see them until you cut and grind on them because the holes are filled with other shells or sand.
Nephrite (Tony) sent me some shell to play with. I normally buy them at rock shows. I have one green one that I got at a rock show that I am going to cut when I get up the courage. It will be beautiful if it turns out.
Thanks for the comments, Ken

Ken, that is some amazing work! I love how you got them to really show the best they had to offer on that toothpick! I never even thought about how difficult it was to get the flat areas to work with. Fran
