I've picked up a few samples of this material in Realitos. It has banding consisting of reddish/orange material and black material. The surface is rough like the surface of granite that has been broken. Not conchoidal. I like the colors and will slice and tumble a piece. I am curious as to what it may be. Metamorphic? The surface of the black and orange components is similar.

I can't ID it for you, but it looks solid enough to take a nice polish. That would probably make nice cabs. Keep us updated on how it tumbles. Don

A file won't scratch it. I sawed a piece off to photograph the surface and now with the macro I can see transparent crystals in it so maybe it is a granite. Here's the rough surface: This is the cut face:

If it will cab without chipping, it would make some beautiful cabs. Maybe cut a slab and stabilize it first, before trying to cab it. Don

Whoa! The left-hand side of the cut piece has Catwoman, winking!
That looks like a great candidate for a few Halloween cabs!
