Well, I've made some modifications to my 40 lb tumbler set up. The set up I had originally posted was going through 6 cups of 60/90 Sic grit a week. I decided one of the causes was the barrel was turning too fast and some of the stones were chipping. I noticed the pulley on the motor was 2 1/2 inches. I replaced that with a 1 1/2 inch pulley. That slowed down the barrel rotation. I also switched to 46/70 SiC grit. Between the slowing of the barrels and the larger grit, 4 cups of grit now lasts two weeks. I also noticed that the weight of the barrel was chewing up my roller covers. So I removed the roller covers and used contact cement to attached and old serpentine belt from my truck on the steel runners of the barrel. So far things are running smooth as silk. I just pulled out about 10 lbs of stones ready to go to the vibes for finishing. So if production keeps up a this rate I might just be able to pay for the grit and electricity to run it.
