Hello, all! I recently received the prize from Rock&Gem, consisting of a wall plaque and a Dremel tool. Here's the Dremel: My aim, when submitting the article to them, was not getting the dremel, as I already have such a tool; besides, this one is for 110 volts, not suitable here. You, friends on RTH, are for me such an inspiration without whom I even wouldn't had been thinking to build that sword. So, bearing in mind the above said, I would like to offer this Dremel to someone here. I thought a contest would be the best way to chose the most deserving one. To win it, you must write here why would you like to have such a tool. Funny reasons accepted and encouraged Persons who don't own a Dremel are preferred, but if you already got one and come up with a solid reason for another one, jump in. After one week, my favorite entries would be put to a vote and you will decide the winner. Good luck, all! Adrian

OMG  So many reasons to want a Dremmel. #1. It's a Dremmel, not a cheapie tool. (I have a cheapie & my cheapie doesn't fit the Dremmel press I bought for it, so I need a Dremmel to fit the Dremmel press)! #2. My cat's claws need trimmed! Hmmmmm I wonder if that would work? #3. So many neat things you can do with a Dremmel: cutting, trimming, sanding & polishing coconut shells, drilling holes in rocks, coconut shells & stuff. Of course, first off I would have to learn how to use the attachments that are used with a Dremmel (already messed up some of them by using them the wrong way, like trying to sand coconut shell when I should have been buffing metal) Oh well, I guess that's how you learn!!!! Of course, should I win the Dremmel, I would be able to give my cheapie to someone else who needs one! ;D Donnie

Top Ten (strike that--Top Five) Reasons I need a Dremel:
1. Possession of such a fine tool would lessen the possibility of an untimely arrest at various hardware stores for drooling over Dremels.
2. I have been advised that the spurs on the legs of roosters can be filed down successfully with Dremels. If you knew my rooster, you would understand. (Will send photos upon request.)
3. I have yet to conquer the details of smoothing convex surfaces and tight areas on my ancient cab machine. A dremel would prevent my hearts from looking like (er) items in a push-up bra.
4. The neighbors have been secretly laughing at my wire wraps. Their children are not so kind--or secretive.
5. And the main reason is, I really *really* want to drill holes in rocks. I want to attach things to them with small chains, I want to dangle them from fish line in my windows, I want to attach them to my dog's collar (pictures of Mud available upon request--that's my dog), I want to hang them from the visors and rear view mirrors of the vehicles of strangers parked at WalMart, the list goes on. One small tool--so many fantasies fulfilled!

Why I Need a Dremel!
Well, so far all I have to work with my stones are tumblers. I love the tumblers but sometimes there are small nodules sticking out after the course tumble that would look far better off than on. I have tried hammering them off but frequently break the whole stone, oh no. I would also be able to polish some stones that are too big for my tumbler and that I can't break. Wow, there are many reasons I could use a dremel and the biggest reason I don't have one is that I basically live on Social Security and can't afford one. I live in an area without tumbling stones so I have to buy them. That is where my funds get spent and my husband says I really don't need any more rock tools. Is there a rockhound around who really does not need more tools? Winning one would really be a God Send. I have the rock fever (sweat, sweat) and really want to do more with my stones. A dremel would allow me to do some trimming, polishing and making jewelry that I can't do now. Please give me the chance.

Why I want a Dremel:) Well I have always dreaming of owing one every since I was a little girl and saw one in the dusty ole window of the Hardware store. I would stand with my nose pressed against the window looking at the bright and shiny Dremel in the window. My life would be complete with a Dremel. I can cut and carve my stones into wonderful shapes and maybe become a world famous designer because of this gift:) I can trim the ear and nose hairs from my favorite uncle:) I can polish the grout in my bathroom for first time:) I can use it as pumice stone to get rid of the calluses on my feet:) I can start a sideline business of making ice sculptures:) I can use it to polish everyone's teeth in the house including the dog and the cat. I can use it as a pizza cutter:) I can use it to trim my house plants:) I can use to make smoothies:) I can use it as a personal fan (with larger blades of course) I am at work and if they find out I am playing instead of working I will also need it to hold up my sign that says: Will work for rocks:) Thank you Adrian for the fun contest:) Sara

I already have one so I won't participate in this one.. but.. The things I could do with TWO Dremels!! One in each hand.. at the same time.. just going off on a big old chunk of rough destined to become a prized sculpture.. 100 miles per hour Edward Scissorhands style.. droplets of rock snot flying into the sky and falling back to Earth like some crazy muddy rain.. maniacal laughter.. eyes wide open witnessing the birth of my latest creation.. yesss.. YESSS!!! Ahem.. Great prize and contest Adrian.. good luck everyone! ;D

I think Beef is a little excited. lol
Ok, it's Wednesday and Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti day so I'd use it as an automatic spaghetti twirler. Rock snot wouldn't be flying but the sauce will.
Adrian, This is a great contest and a really generous prize.

I've already got a dremel, it has s dedicated reciprocating wood carving shaft attached, and a Foredom for silverwork so I don't need a third. However if I had a third rotary tool I think I'd pursue my dream of becoming a backstreet dentist. Can you say ahhhh..............ouch!

What a fun generous contest. I've really enjoyed reading the entries. You are gong to have a tough time just picking the ones to vote on. I love my dremel and know that whoever wins will enjoy their new toy as well.
