Hi! In case anybody's interested, just north of Lincoln, MO (the capital of mozarkite country, so to speak) they are widening the highway. There's about 2 miles of dirt and rocks predug for us by the highway department. There's lots of mozarkite there! Some was very nicely colored and patterned. It was hot and we didn't have a whole lot of time to search carefully, so I suspect that more careful collecting would yield even better quality stuff.

I like that state of MO, nice work, and beef, you should come out while it lasts. I read some history of the area and found out that the mozarkite deposit was originally discovered when they built the first 2 lanes of hwy. 65. The pictures aren't great. I'm most psyched about some black, white, and yellow with really intricate feathering type patterns on it. I don't remember seeing really black mozarkite before with so much white contrast. BTW we went down there for the annual rock swap and the pay dig. This was a bonus.

Hi all! Newbie here--I've just joined the board. Does anyone know if there is still some mozarkite available at this site, or have they finished & covered it all up? I'd love to get some, but kinda hate to go unless I know it's still active. Thanks for any replies!

Sorry. Hit the wrong button and message sent before I'd finished! The highway construction is still underway. We found more of the red-pink mix towards the northern end of the work area, particularly in large mounds of dirt, rather than scattered on the surface. Plenty of the grey/white mix. Many with crystal vugs. Probably not to the extent that this area was upon initial digging, but still able to obtain some nice stuff!

You can contact Linville Harms. He has the original mine and charges $2 lb. Going to be hard to find any decent stuff because he isn't working it with the backhoe anymore. About played out. His number is ....660-827-4143. Ken
