Another little one from the huge rose quartz I sliced up. This one's in 21ga. DS square SS and HH 1/2-round SS. You might notice that the bail wrap is a little hinky - you must understand that this thing is no bigger than the fingerprint part of my thumb! I haven't found a good way yet to wrap the bails. Maybe some day I'll figure it out. I see in the pictures there are flaws on the surface that I cannot see with my naked eyes. Oh, well. If I can't see them, they aren't there, right? ;D After I finished wrapping it, I put it into a 1.5 Lortone barrel with stainless steel shot and a little ceramics to fill the space, about 1/2 cup of water and a little shaving from a bar of Dove soap, and ran it for about 45 minutes. Seems to have cleaned it fairly well, I think. Hope y'all like it! Front: Back: Thanks for looking! Tom

You did good. I like it. I find that the little ones are easier with smaller wire. Maybe at least a 22g or even better a 24g. If your eyes can handle it. Mine have a hard time with 24g. I need reading glasses and a lighted magnifier lamp to do it.

The eyes do indeed make this sort of work, at best, problematic. I have to use my magnifying lamp to see which side of the half-round I'm bending, and that's just on 21ga. With 24ga., I'd just be making a huge mess, I'm afraid!
There was a time, long ago in a galaxy far, far away .... before I had my cataract operations, when I could have seen perfectly well to do this. But, alas, time marches on ....

Well Tom, your eyes may not be what they used to, but the wrap doesn't show it. It's gorgeous!

it is really very nice!
I use a pair of reading glasses that are highly magnified for my wrapping and beadwork. I also have optivisors in my lapidary area for cutting, polishing and carving.
I have one just for scrimshaw that has the most magnification.
Without these I could not do my hobby
