i found these in lake Ontario near Toronto. Any id what it could be. the one rock is 2in by 1 in by 1 1/2 in . its petty heavy and when i cleaned it under hot water , it keeps it heat for quite a while. and a little sliver residue comes off. Attachments:

Definately a "concretion". Probably limestone.

Don't want to get you excited, but you might want to do a google search, and find out if platinum has ever been found in that area. I know that Canada does produce this metal, and that looks like a water worn nugget without tarnish to me. Might be worth looking into. Don

Thanks Don, i did a google search and it sure looks the same. There is a coal plant in the same area, and there is coal nuggets on the shore too. Maybe it fell of the ship during a transfer.

Does it have a iron smell ? If so I say it`s marcasite or arsenopyrite .
