So, I could not wait to wrap 1 of the cabs I made.....toldja I'd hide the flaws! LOL Anyways, this is a Plume Agate, you can see it back lit in the cab section. Decided to play with textures some more. I like the end result, gives some added oomph to the wrap, and still shows off the stone really well, don't you think? Thanks for lookin' Hope ya like it! WOW you bacame an expert at that really fast. I am practicing, but haven't tried it on a stone yet. I'm still using copper. My tension isn't consistent. This one you did is beautiful. It has an ocean feel to it. I would name it "The octopus's garden"

Man, that is purty! Nice work, Marie. Just out of curious, about how much wire did this one take? It looks like it must have been quite a lot, to do all that weaving. Great effect, though.

Thanks everyone!! Tom- I started the wrap with 3 pieces of 22 gauge at 12" long each, used 1/2 round for the binds of course...the weaving wire? I am not sure how much, but it was probably around 3-4 feet....guessing here, cuz as you know me...I get to wrapping, and I just go with it. I used 26 gauge round for the weave by the way...man what a difference the smaller wire makes! amazing that just a cple steps down makes it that much easier to do those weaves.
Thanks again everyone!! Marie

That is so intricately beautiful. I too see an octopus holding on to a mussel. You really have a gift with being able to take up any style and create with perfection.
Marie, is the 26 g round dead soft?

Marie, Neat wrap and cab as always . I've tried tried weaving a little, but I just don't have the patience. All your stuff just has a natural "flow", and this one is no exception. I'm curious... Do you sketch out your designs first, or just go with the flow ? Chris

Sitnwrap - Yes the 26 gauge is dead soft, I cannot even imagine trying to do it with HH....oh wait yes I can! LOL what a big pain in the arse!!!! uggh! dead soft, and tiny, is the way to go with weave wire, oh and round! Chris...no, I don't sketch anything, I just start wrapping it, and go with the flow. I tried sketching out one once..hehehehe forget that! LOL If I even try to plan it in my head, it never ever goes the way I planned it! hahahaha The weaves, by the way, are much easier to do ON THE WRAP than they are just holding on to the wires loosely. For instance, this one, I made the bail, seperated the wires on it, and THEN did the weave. It's a lot simpler than I thought too, but it's basically over and under weave, not as complicated as it looks at all. Here is the free tutorial I used to figure it out www.jewelrylessons.com/tutorial/basic-weaving-techniquesThanks everyone!! Marie
