I spent a couple of months in Montana this summer and ended up purchasing some petrified wood from a gentlemen moving into an assisted living situation. Among the pieces was a 300 pound piece of petrified wood. It's too big for a 24" saw, and I was wondering if any members knew of a 36" saw in the southern California area. I am halfway between LA and San Diego.

You want to buy a saw or have it cut? Diamond Pacific cuts for a fee. Tony was selling a nearly new 30" Covington but that is in Idaho. Barranca has a new 30" slab saw out. $

You might check with the Jurupa Mts. Cultural Center, just outside of Riverside. They used to have a complete lapidary shop. They have an E-mail addy, but I'm not sure what it is. Check this link. www.jurupamountainsculturalcenter.net/Don

Sorry, I didn't make it very clear- I am looking to have this piece cut.

If the place in Jurupa still has their lapidary shop, they might cut it for you. I moved from Riverside back in 96, so can't say for sure if they still have the shop. Lots of rockhounds and clubs in So. Cal. that may be able to cut it for you too.
