Whew! I'd guess coprolite on the last one too but the other three have me pretty much stumped. I've seen the first one before and even have some somewhere in my collection. Guy I got it from had it labeled Boquilla Agate, another guy had the same thing as Vaquilla Agate from Durango. Mexico.Cross says Boquilla is a misnomer and it should be Vaquilla but his description fits Pata De Gallo Agate so I'm clueless because mine is more brecciated like yours. I thought there was a Boquilla Canyon in SW Texas too. Your second piece is a real prize but totally unknown to me. The third angel wing piece looks like Bull Canyon on the outside but the colors and inside pattern don't look right, another total stumper but very beautiful......Mel
PS: Went to the online agate lexicon and looked up Boquilla. It listed Boquilla red and gold jasper from Boquilla Canyon on the Rio Grande in SW Texas. Might be part of Big bend Park now. It listed Vaquilla as a synonym but I'm thinking since the latter is from Durango, that we're looking at two different similar materials and Boquilla is an actual agate/jasper type /location.

Chuck: You may well be right. All I have is writing on a specimen I picked up at Bill's rock yard back in California and a piece I got at the Bako show that same trip. Even Brad Cross's book has no pictures of Vaquilla Agate and I've never seen any posts on Boquilla Canyon except yours. That's the problem with Id's on stuff you don't self collect *L*.....Mel

Right you are Mel, and of course there's no collecting in Big Bend.

I'm not sure we were much help Beef! LOL Sure, I feel confident about the coprolite ID, one may be Bull Canyon, and another just maybe might be Boquilla, Vaquilla or Tequilla ;D Regardless I learned a few things and that's always helpful!
