Hello, Can someone please tell me when refurbishing a Nova wheel with epoxy and Diamond powder, which of the lower diamond grits need to be Ni plated? Less than or equal to 600 grit? <=300? <=140? Also, what does Ni plated mean? Nickle plated? And where can you buy Ni plated Diamond powder? I am looking for some in the vicinity of 140 grit. I'm also looking for used Nova-type wheels, buy I guess quite a few of us are now-a-days! Thanks, Dave

The nickle/diamond wheels are electroplated on a steel wheel or wheel rim. The diamond in epoxy or plastic can be brushed on a surface. You can make soft backed 140 grit wheels but they would wear quickly and be more of a coarse sander rather than a grinder. Nova wheels start at 60 but I've been selling them (Nova wheels) for a while and never have sold one yet. I've never sold a 140 either. No reason why you couldn't make them though.
