If anyone knows where this comes from originally, I would greatly appreciate that info, so I can pass it along to the person who owns it.
45 years ago, a man and woman in Canada got married, and took their honeymoon in BC. While they were there, browsing different places, and visiting shops, They came across a man whom they visited with a bit, and in the end he gave them this rock. Over the past 45 years it has served many purposes in their home, being moved from here to there and every where. Recently she decided the rock had served it's purpose in their home, and gave it to her friend there in Canada to "do something with". Her friend makes jewelry, but does not cut or slab rocks. It just so happens that I am an online friend of the friend, on Facebook, and she asked me if I would be willing to cut the rock for her, and make some cabs. "of course! send it to me!!" . Now, as the story goes, this woman was told on her honeymoon that this geode had Jade in it, but when I saw the photos, I was sure she had mixed up the word with geode.....and it has been 45 years after all.
She wanted step by step photos of the process, so here ya go...and again, if you know where it is from, I would love to be able to tell her that.
The geode is/was bigger than my fist, not by much, but bigger none the less. I opened the box to find:
and a cple better light pics:
At this point, the suspense is just killin' me
Oh good grief!! CUT IT!!!!
This is what we found inside:
So there ya have it folks.....now THATS my kinda wedding present!!!!
Was not too hard tho, the brown was harder than the blue agate inside...if that helps with getting an idea whee it may be from.
Thanks for lookin'!
