the clutch is not working on the used LS-12 I set up.
I can see the threaded shaft turn. The spring on the clutch seems OK. I can pull the lever to open the jaws and slide the vise carriage back and forth. When I let go of the lever, the carriage locks in place. I can no longer move it.
I turned the saw over and looked at the threads on the clutch, and they do not appear striped, but I won't get a real good look until the oil drips off and I can run it upside down
It does not look like it is slipping, but it might be and the noise of the saw is covering any noise of the clutch slipping.
other than taking off the blade, wiping off the oil, and looking at it while it runs upside down, does anyone have advice on troubleshooting this?

If the clutch nuts are worn, they will do just what you are describing as in seeming to catch on the drive screw, but then fail to feed. Try cutting something soft like obsidian, and see if the carriage feeds. I had a similar problem with my HP saw. The clutch nuts had sharp threads, and would feed with obsidian but not a harder material. What I had not noticed was how much larger in diameter the clutch nuts had enlarged. Measure the diameter of the clutch nut, and compare it to the drive screw diameter. Woody

It wont feed even with no rock in the vise.
I think they are worn. The old blade was badly dented. I bet it kept feeding even after the saw motor stalled and thermally tripped.
I hope the part is still available. Getting one machined would be a pain.

I will investigate reconditioning, but a new one is $32, so I just ordered it.
