Great vid. Your a star Ralph. I would be asking for more $ now and gold plated hand cuffs and only blue M&M's in your dressing room.

That was a great video! I'm impressed with how quickly you can finish a cab. I take soooo much longer than that. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Beautiful cab too.

Ralph,
Thanks for posting that video. I haven't been cabbing for that long and I picked up a few really good pointers.
Much appreciated!!

Ralph,
That was awesome! You are so fast! I am a complete beginner with lapidary and just started a Beginning Cabochon class in September. It was really neat watching your technique. Would you say that is your average time spent on each wheel when getting a dome? I noticed you don't twirl the cab on the dop stick as you move it. Do you ever twirl or spin the cab while moving along the wheel?
Thanks
Chris

I've been waiting for some visual instructions for a long time! I've read many tutorials that said you have to twirl the cab (often in a J motion) to get a good dome, shape, and finish. This proves that to be wrong. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us! Susan

Now that was a great video and wow .... I really didn't know how quickly the cabs can be done from rough to polish.
Jo .... you gonna do a video on your Flat Lap?
Thanks Ralph and Mary Ann for doing this!!! And Jo .... thanks for being an awesome producer.

Well... just got my camera back from two months at the repair shop... unfortunately missed my opportunity to do a vid of Randy cabbing on my last visit. Oh well, maybe next time we get together. Good question... I'll roll it around in my brain and see what comes out... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) JO

Fabulous video, thank you so much Ralph and Jo! I 'borrowed' your technique and it really helped me with my cabs ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon!

Sometimes my cabs end up with little flat spots. Any tips to get rid of that problem? What did you spray on for the final polish cerium?

Flat spots can be a real problem. I found that you must keep rocking the cab up and down at an even pressure to not get any. Holding the cab in one spot will create the flat spot. I use super cerium oxide as my final polish on a leather pad. For me dopping the stone is best. I have more control. I hope this helps you ralph
