Abigail and I planned to go to this show tomorrow, but we got our yard work done early today and decided to head up after lunch.
There was a good variety of vendors, and plenty to look at.
This young lady ( www.exclusiveinspirations.com ) had some very nice pieces, including larimar rough. I wish I brought more money, as I would have bought some. She had some fantastic one cab mini-slabs there, I found one I really liked...
Next we saw the gentleman I purchased the lapis and morgan hill from at previous shows. Abigail wondered about a piece of druzy quartz, and I asked about a rock he had face polished. Turns out it was Wausau Moonstone a.k.a. labradorite. It's found near Wausau, Wi. What a gorgeous flash of blue in that piece! I've read a lot about this material, but from what I understand it's not available any more. The quarry it was found at is closed, and most of the land around that area is private. I exclaimed to Abigail that the elusive Wausau Moonstone is in fact real, and I 've just held a piece! When I handed it back he handed me a rock and said "Here, now you own a piece!" OMG, I was speechless! He said what he has of it is from an old collection. I'm so honored for him sharing a piece with me.
Here's the piece he gave me. Probably no blue flash in it, but cool just the same:
Next we came upon the guy selling the opal which I had purchase from last December. Abigail and I dug through his little pieces and found 3 (1 for Abigail, 2 for me) we liked. These 3 pieces cost $7.00, so I'm not worried if I mess up and loose almost all the fire again lol.
Here's the 2 I got. Abigail's has fire showing like my 1st pic, so she's leaving it rough and wire wrapping it as is.
1st piece, 1/2" long
2nd piece, 1" long
We had a great time at the show talking to all the different vendors there.
On the way home we stopped at the cafe with the Rock for rent and Beware of rocks (like my avitar) outside. They closed at 5 pm, and it was almost 6, but the owner was there and he came out and kindly invited us in to show us around. He has a website showing the inside of the cafe and all his rock creations - www.rocksforfun.com - check it out! He's had visitors from 48 states and 25 countries!
Here's a few more of his creations outside the cafe:
Hope you enjoy the pix.
