I just had to
post this after seeing the specimens -- good cause

Fellow mineral collectors,
I'd like to call your attention to the online auction beginning today to
benefit the Color Fund for Rocks & Minerals magazine. This is hosted by John
Veevaert's Trinity Mineral Co. auction site, and is at:
auction1.mineral-auctions.com/
There are 22 specimens, donated to Rocks & Minerals at the Denver Show
last month but saved for this online auction instead of being used in the
"live" Saturday night silent auction at the Show. These are nice specimens,
and all (except for one rhodochrosite pendant with gold mounting) are posted
with no minimum or reserve bid. The auction begins today, Oct. 16, at 10
a.m. Pacific time, and will end at 6 p.m., Oct. 18.
Although Rocks & Minerals magazine is no longer published by a non-profit
foundation (last year its former publisher, the Heldref Foundation, ceased
publishing magazines and sold all its publications to Taylor & Francis, a
large publisher of academic books and journals), the magazine still needs
and appreciates extra support from its readers to continue its printing of
photographs in all articles in full color and on high quality paper while
keeping subscription rates as low as possible.
You can view Rocks & Mineral's home page, with contents of the current
issue and links to back issues, at
www.rocksandminerals.org/
Feature articles in the Sep-Oct issue were on Creede mining history by Tom
Rosemeyer, and "Colorado Mineral Treasures at the Field Museum" by Karen
and Mark Vendl.
Thank you for taking a look at the auction! And please pass this on to any other people you know or in your club who may be interested.
Sincerely,
Pete Modreski (Executive Editor, Rocks & Minerals)
