Just put some brand new wheels on my Pixie and it is running slow(low rpms), seems like half speed...anyone have ideas of how I might have screwed it up?
I might have tightened the wheels together quite tightly but I don't think that would affect it. (When I first reassembled it, the wheels slowed when I started cabbing so I took it back apart and tightened it.)
Nothing seems to be rubbing against the frame.
The belts are on correctly(I'm pretty sure). Is it possible that I could have stretched a belt and that is my problem? Is there a way to tighten or loosen the belts or are they self adjusting?
Is there any regular maintainence schedule I might have missed? Does anyone know the maintainence schedule?
Tks in advance...Charlie

Another thought. Did you use new Nova and Galaxy wheels, or some other brand ? The hub on some of the other brands are a different width than the original brand. You may be jamming the wheels against the bearings too tightly. If this is the case, you may have to compensate with different wheel spacers.

Do the wheels/shaft turn freely without the belt on?

Thanks for your replies.
They are diamond pacific nova wheels(the soft kind).
I had(and still have) a 60grit other brand wheel (wider than novas 1.25 inch wide wheels) but I had two of them on previously). I compensated by sawing a spacer in a mitre box.
The shaft spins freely

Ok...If the shaft spins free and you don't have dual pulleys and your mental stability is not in question (as mine may sometimes be) , it either binds when the belt is tensioned or the motor is defective (which doesn't make a lot of sense if there were no problems before). Bring it over and I'll take a look at it Dr Joe .
