Here's one of the agates I picked up Friday. I had to pull it out of the tumbler to take the picture. It's my favorite. The #4 agate turned out to be very dark inside and fraught with fractures. I have enough left on the remaining piece for a few more shapes or slices.

I've seen lots of agates but not one like that. Pretty cool markings. sure would like to see a picture of those 2 when they are finished tumbling

I love that pattern but I would be afraid it will pit during tumbling. Those pieces may do better being cabbed.

I have them in an AR6 barrel that is about 2/3 full to reduce impact velocities. I drained the barrel this morning to add fresh grit. The brown lines in those pieces appear to be as hard as the agate matrix. A little undercutting of the agate on one line due perhaps to a thin gap at the interface. I've got my fingers crossed. I will save the rest of the stone for the day I learn to cab.
