So................Last night I was in the rock room makin some cabs ;D The wind was blowing here like I have not seen it blow, ever. Just Howling like you would not believe. The news the other day said "dangerously high winds"...but that was for the cities...right? I didn't think anything of it...eh, so the wind is gonna blow, I lived in the Panhandle of Texas, it blows every day there..... The wind is not what bothered me, I could live with that easy enough, but while I am standing there at the cabber....focusing on the rock, zoning out...BOOM!@!! I jumped just about out of my skin, ran to the living room where my son heard it too, scared him so bad he dropped his guitar, knocked over his coke.... That's how loud it was, truth, I swear, it scared me to death!! My hands shook for 30 minutes afterwards!!! To give you an idea, what's left standing is still about 8-9 feet tall, that's how big this tree was. Oh yeah.....LAST WEEK....I went rock hounding twice in 60+ temps......it rained since Friday, and turned to this late last night So.....once again, Mother nature proves that she is in charge!!! Thanks fer lookin Marie

Glad those limbs missed your rock room. Same thing over in S.D. I have 3 large trees down in my yard. We didn't get as much snow, but the wind was gusting up to 70 MPH. Oh well, when the wind stops blowing, I'll drag out my chain saw and make firewood.

Man, my hands shook for like 30 minutes afterwards. It was all I could do to finish my rocks!! LOL Then awake until 2 a.m. waiting for that other 30-40 foot tree to fall....just scared the crap right outta me!!! I am grateful it didn't tear too much up, there is a little damage to the side of the trailer/eves there, and not sure bout the roof, the guys will get up there today, and check it all out. Limbs everywhere, even in the BACK yard from this tree!! Good grief!! That is about 10 feet from my rock room....and if it would have fallen just a tad bit differently....I would have seen it right up close and personal like, cuz my cabber is right in front of the window (for light). Don.....3 trees? wow!! If ya wanna you can have all this wood too. I dont have a fireplace ahahahahaha!!!
And really it's not even cold out there. when I went out this morning to take the photos of it, I put on shoes, jacket, sweatshirt....probably could have gone out without the jacket tho, it aint that bad

Thanks for the offer Marie, but I don't think I'll need any more firewood for a while. With 3 years in a row of heavy spring flooding, I have about 50 dead trees on my property that need to come down and get cut up. The firewood I'll have will probably outlive me. LOL. The wind did me a favor by knocking a few down. Just lucky that the wind was out of the N.W., and blew them away from the house. Stay safe over there. We have a long winter ahead of us in the frozen north.

Wow, Marie - that was a close call! Our weather "person" last night said that if your low pressure system up there was down here, it'd be at least a category 1 hurricane! Hunker down and stay safe, ya hear?

Good to see ya didn't get hurt Marie. The wind's a howlin' outside as I type. Luckily no trees blown over in my yard, but I had to wrastle with the garbage can this morning to keep it in one place for the truck to be able to pick it up. No snow here yet, either. But I imagine it's on it's way soon... Bums me out, I wanted to ride my new bike into November. think it'll be put away real soon instead. I should strap wings on it and fly to work today lol.
Take care, Nate

Just got a cell phone call from a trucker buddy. He's on his way from Wyoming down to Arizona. He says the weather is wicked bad over there. He can't wait to get to Arizona, so he can collect rocks between truck loads.

Wow Marie, that would truly be scary. We are in Ohio about 40 miles from where a tornado touched down and destroyed parts for Cridersville. We had the warnings as well but no tornadoes thank God. What a blessing it missed your home. It didn't hurt you cabbing though as those new ones are just stunning.
