Our ten inch Frantoms table had worn pretty bad from all the small material we have been slabbing. So, looking at several options, one being weld build up, and I can not weld aluminum, that was out. The option I choose was to cut the worn section out, and replace it with a piece of 1/4" plate. Here is what I did. I think that's a better repair than welding it Woody. This way when you wear it out again, it's easily replaced.
Nice job!

Fantastic job! I am glad you showed the bottom. I could not figure out how it was fitting in there so well and staying because I hadn't noticed the brace screw holes at first. Great work! Fran

Great DIY fix there Woody! So.. should I ship my saw to you or do you do house calls?

Brian: Will it fit in a FRB? If our Pacific Northwest weather gets as bad as predicted, a house call might be possible! I am starting to understand the snowbird thing about AZ winter WA summer. Woody

So glad you posted this. My DH just bought a used Frantom from a retiring 92 year old! I'm the ultimate in newbies but have cut some slabs and played with some cabs. (My first one flew off the dop!)

Meta: I am glad this can be of help. The actual work was not difficult, nor time consuming, and it certainly improved the saw. BTW, we all have lost when they come off the dop. Making sure the stone is hot when you dop, and you leave the stick it the wax long enough to get hot will lessen the chance of losing one. I use a mix of one part black wax, and two parts green, and have very few failures.
If you DH has any questions about the saw refurb, just ask. Woody
