Great article Tom! Thanks for posting! I may have to build one so that I have a smaller vibe in addition to the UV18.

Hey Chuck,,, I've been wanting one big enough to polish some of the bigger slabs I have. I do have a Covington Flat Lap Vibe but I HATE using it and have had great results doing small slabs in my Lot-O-Tumbler. What takes me about 4-5 days to do on the flat lap only takes me 2 at the most in the vibe tumbler,,,,,,,and it's MUCH easier and cleaner as well.

Chuck,,,,I have 15lbs of slabs in boxes.piles and just about everywhere here and that's why I want to polish them. I've been saving them for years now and maybe I can finally polish them if I make a vibe unit similar to this one.

Hi
I came across this homemade vibro while surfing YouTube for Homemade Vibros.
Looks like a good solid base for a heavy duty Vibro.
Regards,

I think the problem with that one is it is dry-only. slurry running out the bottom would be an issue.

I'm sure you could modify the design to seal the bottom, but why bother? I'd rather spend my time working the stones than building equipment like this that is ready made.

if you can make a unit of that size, compared to how much for say a UV-40? I think the savings is close to $1000

Hi, Some more very interesting ideas for making a homemade vibro tumbler. www.boyerfour.com/projects/tumbler/tumbler.htmThe one important fact that I have been unable to find is:- What speed does the off centre weight revolve at? Regards, Derek
