See, I told you he was a nice guy. Hope you can arrange to go rockhounding with him. Half of the fun is going out and finding rocks for yourself. Don

Yeah, DD is dying to do that! She brings home treasures from the driveway on a daily basis.

It's great to start them young like that. Bob tells me that some of the pile in your back yard may be TeePee Canyon agates from South Dakota. If so, someone left you a pile of fairly valuable agates. They cut into very pretty jewelry stones. Don

They are pretty! There was only the one, though, I think. It's just a small pile, and there's (as far as I can tell) only one or two of each kind. Seems a good place to start the habit, though.

Welcome to the forum. Glad your DD is getting into rocks. I'm glad you got to visit with Montanamadman and got some more rocks as well as information. I live in Helena but may have to plan a trip to meet this mysterious madman of Montana and bring by some rocks to help with her addiction...lol. Enjoy the "rocky" ride...lol. Diane

Believe me, once you get started, it's no longer a habit. It's an addiction. First will come the rocks. Then a tumbler or two. Before you know what hit you, you'll have a shop full of saws and grinders. But it's a good addiction. Don

May have to put a trip to Billings area on my agenda if I can get time off work to go hounding next summer. I tell ya this having to work for a living is a bummer when I would rather be rockhounding, oh well, gotta support my habit somehow....lol.

If you can email pictures (not to large I have Dial-up) I may be able to identify some. I started rock-hounding before Kindergarten & used to ask all the old men "What kind of rock is this" now I'm the old man (not the oldest) & the 3 local clubs generally send everyone to me. I demonstrate, identify & teach every year at our local fair. Any help I can give is yours. I can refer some good books you could request from your library. And in ending, by the way, got any good rocks you'd care to trade?

Welcome to the best site for rock lovers on the www. I see you are finding rockhounds around our Great State of Montana. I live in Western Montana and travel between Missoula and Deer Lodge a lot in the summer. Again WELCOME. Debby and Tom

We'll probably take you up on some of that after things calm down a little bit here. As for good rocks to trade, I don't know they all look like rocks to me. ;D

Welcome aboard. If you need hep you definitely came to the right place. You won't find a greater bunch of folks anywhere on the internet. I, too, am a newbie and even though I live in Texas, I am looking forward to seeing your future photos.
