I know some people have trouble with bails. Randy does an excelent job describing his method on his complete tutorial to wire wrapping. I sometimes do mine a little differently.... not really easier or better, but different. I know sometimes a different approach is all it takes to get over the hump, so I figured I'd share..... I just going to cover the bail. The frame is all done, now it's time to create the bail. Note that the back of the frame has two wires which end up running straight up the middle... Those are what the bail will be bound to... Next, the cab is set into place for the final time. Actually, it is already held in place really well, but it is about to be held in for good. From there, I just just hold the wires in place tightly with my fingers ( some people use masking tape ) and wrap the wires tightly 3 or 4 times with 24 ga. half round. Be sure to leave the end near the stone quite long.... With the stone already bound in place it is easy to bend the wires into whatever design you wish. I only wanted 4 wires in the bail, so I bent the back two wires down tightly to the bail to keep them hidden. Next I bent the middle two wires over. Then I bent the front two, twisted wires between, and a little shorter than, the middle wires. Then, just take the long end of the 24 ga. half round and wrap it around all 6 ( or 4, or 2, etc... ) bail wires AND the two wires which run up the back. Bind them all together tightly as possible 4 or 5 times and there you go... thats how I do my bail. a nice V shape.... ... and there you go, I hope that this might help. Chris

what do you do with the tag end of the HR? just clip it? Yes, pretty much... At the top, I usually find a place to descreetly weave it in between two wires, pull it tight and clip it flush. On this one when I folded over the back two wires they pinched the HR tightly, so I clipped it there.... At the bottom of the bail I just clip it against the back of the stone... right where it comes out from behind the bail wires... Also, I always try to bend at least one of the wires sharply immediately after the binds, it helps to hold everything tightly together.
