Howdy folks, Well, I finally accumulated enough softer stones out of the coarse grind for a smaller UV-10 batch. With the help of a buddy of mine who excels at obsidian tumbling, I used the following formula: Coarse 60/90 till shaped ( two -four weeks), then one week in fine grind 110/220, one week in 500, one week in tripoli, one week in high grade tin oxide polish and one day in dreft burnish. Lots of plastic pellets in all of the last four stages. Included in the batch were apache tears, Davis creek "dried Prune" obsidian nodules, Utah snowflake obsidian, a little sodalite, lots of small moonstone and labradorite, and lots of low grade pale blue amazonite feldspar. Pictures are not real good because of the sun angle right now but everything except some of the more angular moonstones and some of the sodalite flat mirrored out. Lots of trouble but well worth the effort. The little white spots are not dust but rather all the little reflections from the adjacent stones.....Mel

Nice job, great polish! The variety you have makes it even more difficult, but you go stellar results.

That's a good looking batch. Natural shapes and un-natural shines!

Hi Mel, I do pretty good with obsidian but I always do it alone. The amazonite has a crystaline quartz in it which can raise havoc with a batch of obsidian but it looks like you did great with yours.
Thanks for the photos,,,
