Got this slab at a rock show this summer. Don't have any idea what it is, but it IS soft. On a Buck 110 with nickle silver bolsters and "x and arrow" filework. For sale. Thanks for looking, Ken

Because you said it was soft it leads me to identify it as Mariposite. Beautiful knife! Bob

Man Ken, you do beautiful work. It has inspired me to try this on a couple of 110's that I have. Your filework is really great; you are a craftsman... Gary

Beautiful work! Looks great on that knife. Looks like the Mariposite I worked with.

Beautiful knife! I'd agree with the others on Mariposite. Type location was just over the hill from our old ranch, John C. Fremont's Pine Tree & Josaphine Mine. It is fairly soft being a mixed hardness material, marble, biotite, fuchsite, ( chrome mica) and quartz.....Mel

Thanks for the comments and ID. roy, I get them new from Smokey Mountain Knife Works and take the micarta handles off of them and add my own. If you want blanks, go to www.premiumknifesupply.comThey have a lot of nice blanks AND most are make in the USA. Ken

Beautiful knife, Ken! What a perfect file work! And the stone scales turned very well, despite the softness.

Nice knife, Ken. The stone work is top notch; add the impressive filework & you've got out of this world gorgeous. (I do NOT know how you do that filework)!

Thanks for the comments. Don, you practice on a popcicle stick first. Use a magic marker to design your pattern. Ken
