New to this hobby. Have two small lortone tumblers. Have been tumbling about 6 months. Enjoy polishing cool rocks I find and enjoy when the batch I have been working on for a while comes out looking pretty good. Have tried to figure out the type of rocks I have found and think I have figured some out but want to get with some smart folks and see if I am right.

Welcome Irock! If you are in the western part of LA I can guess what kind of rocks you have without seeing them. Petrified wood, palm wood, jasper, and if your really lucky, an agate or two.

I am from Vernon Parish. Currently with the Louisiana National Guard in Iraq. That is where I got my screen name. I have been picking up rocks here on the Camp and have bought the two tumblers and had them delivered while over here. Did not get interseted in Tumbling and polishing rocks until I got over here and noticed some of the rocks are interesting. My sister got a toy polisher for a Christmas present so that's how I knew about the hobby. Everyone likes the polished rocks and I have given away quite a few onced polished. Most have come out looking pretty good when finished. I think most are Jasper and Quartz. Curious to have someone knowledgeable look at them and see if I have some exotic rocks. Do have quite a variety.
