For the last two days Amber and did our first craft show. It was a middle sized show with about 140 crafters. The show was juried and was supposed to only have hand made items but we spotted a significant number of vendors selling stuff they didn't make. Oh well, we had a good time and beat our goal. Here are some pics of the display I built. View from across the isle. One side showing the 3 panels. I'll expand that to 4 for the next show. Typical panel, we had about 230 items all told. The tags we came up with. Us in the booth. If anyone is interested I can explain how I made the displays.

Great picture of you and Amber. I really like the way you two set up your displays with the info right there for the customers to answer their own questions. Very orginized, and congratulations on your show.

Nice display Tony. I'd be interested in knowing what's involved in building it and also how you made the tags for the pendants. I really like the tags.

For the panels I built a frame of 2x3's and painted them black. The insert is 1 3/8" foam insulation board that is covered with fabric attached with spray adhesive. I taped the edges so they wouldn't get pulls in the fabric while taking them in and out. Then I attached the panels to each other using hinges. There is a 3/4" steel pipe that I mount between the panels at the rear using some jury rigged plumbing clamps. This gives stability and lets us hang a back drop, which is a cheap sheet from K-Mart. The back of the front two panels has a brace screwed to the panels at floor level. A 40 pound bag of sand sits on top of that brace to give stability.
The fabric covered insulation board lets us stick pins in for holding the pendants, I used U shaped quilting pins. They were very secure and not one cab hit the floor, well except when we were putting them up or taking them down. That's due to us being klutzy. lol The tags are just Avery brand stickers that are 1" x 3". I designed the tag and printed them out on a laser printer. The tags were designed so that we could fold them in half and stick them in the box with the pendant when it sold. We also put the boxes into fancy bags with a business card.
We took about 230 items and sold about 35. Taking charges really helped as half our sales were charges. Our bank really helped out a lot with that lending us the machine. Overall we came away pretty happy with the show and are looking forward to doing more next year.

Tony had talked about this display for months and finally started building it and I really couldn't visualize it, LOL When done it worked out perfectly, I sold him some expensive lights that I think really made the display, wow the cabs just popped with bright light on them, the lighting in the gym was poor and hard to see without them. The labels really drew people in, as they looked for places they enjoy visiting, etc. We got lots of compliments on our work and it was nice to have a crowd of people that appreciated the hand work that goes into them. I was very proud of Tony! We didn't sell any silver pieces which bummed me out, it is so expensive to buy the PMC and sterling that you can't give the stuff away, but maybe at another show. We are going to hit some closer to NYC where people have more money to burn next year! It was a long 2 days but I was glad we made enough to pay for the display and some money to burn in Quartzite, and I got a nice steak dinner out of it, LOL For being a good helper!

I'm glad you guys did well!! I love hearing about others doing shows. I did a show also fri nite and sat. in ranching country where I didn't expect to sell any wire wraps but sold 3 the cheapest being $60. You never know where they'll sell that's why it's good to have a variety of stuff. I've also found that it takes up to 3 years at the same show to do really well cause people like to see you're not a fly by night outfit.

Great job, glad it turned out well. I see a big motorhome in your future and travel . " was supposed to only have hand made items but we spotted a significant number of vendors selling stuff they didn't make" Did the show specify it had to be made by " their" hands ;D How did you display pricing? Thanks for sharing & Keep up the good work. Dr Joe .

MikeS, we sold 30 pendants and beat our goal, which wasn't too high but the show pretty much paid for the cost of making the display. The 6 lights cost over $400 but they were worth it as you really need good light for the rocks to show up best.
Dr Jo, this was a juried show and everything was supposed to be made by the person selling it. They actually closed one person down because his stuff was apparently mass produced. For pricing we put a little sticker under the cab.

Nice work Tony, I really like that display. It looks very upscale and professional. Good to hear you at least broke even on the show.
When's the next one? LOL

That is a great set up Tony! I had no idea what it would look like when Amber mentioned that you were working on it. I love the labels too! That probably helped with the sales I would think. Great job you two! Fran
