Had a 5 day weekend so I've been cutting some cabs! The first two are from Woodward Ranch and were collected on my last trip there. Flower Garden agate with an orb at the top... Some really intense Red Moss agate from Agate Hill at WWR. This stuff polishes like glass! The next three are a set of Gary Green cabs cut from some of Snuffy's slabs purchased at the rock shop in Smithville, Tx. Large egg pendant And two earing eggs Forest Fire Jasper... neat material... i need to cut more slabs.. Pietersite. This one has a fracture right across the top... argh... Parrot Wing agate... picked up a couple of chunks of this fantastic material at Mac Ellis' rock sale... all sorts of color in this stuff... almost doesn't seem real... Thanks for looking! I hope those of you in the US had a great Thanksgiving!! Might post a few more later today. Dan

Some wonderful material and beautiful cabs. Looks like there was very little problem with pitting with the Gary Green.

Excellent looking cabs. My favorites are the first two from Woodwards but I gotta say I haven't seen parrotwing in awhile and that is also one great looking piece......Mel

Thanks all that first one is my favorite as well.. it came from a little chip that I picked up.. a "one off". Some of the WWR agates take a brilliant polish and these are only up to 8k diamond... I'll finish them w/25k & 50k. I like working with the Gary Green too... of course I was pretty picky going through the stack of slabs at the Rock Shop... and the good stuff ain't cheap... lol... but well worth it to avoid the pits and inclusions. I was very lucky to find the Parrot Wing. It was purchased from an old timer in central Texas who is pretty well known as a knapper but had collected all kinds of material over the years. I have a couple of diff. varieties but I like this stuff the best and am cutting another cab today. Thanks again for the nice comments... Dan

Man Dan ! Those be some tasty looking cabs! That parrot wing! Well the pink & green reminds me of a mineral I find in AZ. Over at the museum they even had some tumbled stones of it that they named it Ukelite.
I’m not sure that an official mineral designation, and I’m not sure it the same stone as yours but that pink sure looks similar
Once again beauts! Ed

Thanks again all! Ed~ I tried looking it up under that name but all I came up with is some kind of youth organization called UK Elite I've also done searches for Parrot Wing agate images but have found nothing with the same colors as the cab above. I've only seen one other example of that stuff w/the same color green and it came from Mexico already finished. Seems as though the Parrot Wing I have is fairly rare... Dan

Thanks Ed ~ Unakite does look similar but it's a type of Granite. I've been looking online to find more info about the Parrot Wing stuff and in general everyone seems to agree that it's a type of Chrysocola but no one seems to agree if it's Agate or Jasper. I want to call it an agate because it has some translucent areas and it's nice and hard like a good agate should be. Trade names are tricky though... some rocks that are referred to as Jasper are really Agates and vica-versa....
Thanks again!
