Anybody have any experience with these? Looking at the 250TUM, the angle of the barrel, to me, would suggest quicker tumbling times as the rocks would move in more than a single direction, but not sure.

They call it triple action. Rocks go around, up and down, and swap direction when they hit the large flats. DP and Barranca both make angled rotaries as well. Barranca unit is on Winter Sale through April.

John, in your opinion are these angled barrels as good or better than the flat lortone/thumblers, or not really that big a deal???

They are faster for sure. All three brands are heavier duty too. I'm more familiar with the BD but it is a knock off of the DP with an improved barrel cap. You are limited to about 6 lbs. capacity (all three brands) so they won't replace the QT12 or B model Thumler's. Most beginning hobby tumblers find a double 3 lb. size ideal. Then there is the price.

Price is a bit high, but I also like the way it's nearly a direct drive with no belt. So much less to go wrong with these models, and I also like the shortened time when you're tumbling three ways instead of just two with a standard rotary. Trying to get the funds now to buy one from John of the BD's. Fabulous price right now, almost half price.

20 rpm. They are driven by a fan cooled reduction gear motor. Shaft is connected through a`Lovejoy drive coupling. It worked so well they are using a similar drive coupling on the new direct drive GP-8 cab unit.
