What is the name for this material . I think it is from Western US , and a picture jasper or wonderstone variety .

I'm far from an expert, but from the photos that looks like some of that flint you find around Ohio or other parts of the midwest...

That appears to be one of the picture jaspers from Oregon NW of McDermitt, NV. Probably McDermitt Picture Jasper, Palamino Picture Jasper , Arroyo or Disaster Peak Picture Jasper all of which can look very similar.....Mel
