Don't be so hard on yourself, Amy! That's a helluva good first effort. At least you did it - I haven't been able to make myself try a ring yet! I'm sure the more you do, the better they'll get, but I wouldn't throw that one out at all!

Great job on that. I tried that tutorial, and I know how hard it is to wrap that band~! You did fine girl. Heck, I wasn't happy with mine, and when I traded for a haircut, the lady picked that McIntosh ring I did. She loves it! Keep up the good work! Jo

There's no shame in trying Amy, that's how we learn. You're inspirational to me just for sharing your experiences with it. Thank you.

Better than the first cab I wrapped. I titled the thread "boat anchor" Keep it. It's your first and you can guage your improvement everytime you make another.

I wouldn't say ugly, just not polished. You have to start somewhere, and that is a fine start.

If I were you, I would wear it proudly. It's your first, so make sure you keep it. Wish I had my first wrap. I tore it apart and scrapped it. Wish I hadn't. I think you did fantastic for your first time. Now you can see what to do on the next one. And the 10th one will be superb. You are on your way. Ken

I think it's pretty, better than I could ever do. I'm just incapable of doing a decent wrap. On that stone, since it's got a creamy texture to it, I would have suggested silver over the gold, sort of mutes the color of the stone, just my opinion.....and you know what those are worth....lol

This is my first ring. I told you it was ugly. Drocknut made me post it. So if it hurts your eyes, blame her. See, told you it wasn't ugly. You did great especially for the first ring. I haven't done a ring so you are one step ahead of me as usual...;-) Glad I made you post it To set the record straight though I didn't make you post it, just pestered you into it ;D

I can understand your frustration but I have looked closely at your pictures and that is not an easy task! I think you tackled it admirably and it came out really nice! Keep up the great work! Fran

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It is wearable, just every part of it is crooked. No sharp edges and the stone doesn't fall out. I'll try it again. I don't make too many smaller cabs. I guess I will have to.
Drocknut, You're right, you did not make me. You just pestered. So now you have proof. I did make a ring. LOL
Chromenut, I wrapped it in Brass. I wasn't going to waste silver or gold on my first attempt at a ring. So I had a choice of Brass or Copper. I chose Brass. The lesser of the 2 evils for this stone.

I like how you did the wire around the stone, enhanced it. The shank, just takes practice. I have only made three rings so far, the pharoah's style. I am not great at it either, each one took me all day to make! I would bet that your second effort would be far far better, after seeing your other wraps, you will pick this up easily also. Keep it up!

LOL, I like that one better than my "first ring" that I did last week. Only thing for us now is "practice practice practice" ;D
