Here's a few more cabs I just finished. Red Tigerseye. I'm pretty certain that the guy I bought it from said it was heat treated to turn it red. Not real happy with the way they turned out but I have more... will just try again. You can see where the fibers have torn out of the face on these two cabs. Don't know what this stone is. I thought it might be fossilized something or other but it didn't have that distinctive smell that most fossils have. An unusual Woodward ranch agate. Red moss with yellow fortifications. Tiffany Stone - Betrandite - a very cool purple rock. Thanks! Dan

That Tiffany stone is awesome. My understanding is that all red tigereye is heat treated.

The tiffany is very cool. Too bad about the fibers in the tigereye, you got a fantastic polish on them!

I have some tiger eye that has red streaks in it. I don't think it was treated, but who knows? Maybe nature treated it.
That Tiffany is great!

Thanks all!
The Tiffany stone is really something special eh? I have a couple more small chunks of it, mostly end cuts though. I've found a distributor so I may get some more in the future.
The Red moss from the ranch is kind of unique. There's only one spot that I've found it there and I ain't tellin where! ;D Nah... JK... that material came from a place that Trey calls Agate hill. After we visited there we started calling it Titty Mountain.. lol... that hill has some agate that you really can't find anywhere else on the ranch.
Anyway... thanks for the nice comments... glad you all enjoyed the pics.

Oh, I just love that Tiffany! It is frustrating when the fibers come out of the tigerseye and I read somewhere that you needed to only grind it across the fibers and not with them to keep them from pulling out (I hope I have that right). There is very little natural red tigers eye because it is caused by heat. I would think the ones that are more streaked may be natural. Either way, the color is always beautiful! Fran
