'Bout stinkin' time I gave you some rocks that were worth tumbling, LOL! These were beach stones that I (Bill and Angie) collected on the beaches in Washington State and Oregon. They are lookin' sweet for sure! Mother Nature (sand and surf) did most of the coarse grinding already so you had a sweet head start!
Those fire agates are coming along nicely. Gonna be up to you if when to pull them or leave them in and fully get those crevices. If it were me, I'd let 'em go until all crevice crust was smooth. Do you have lots of small stuff running with them? The Carnelians are looking great!
Love your new Avatar! Jo

Jo!!!! SMOOCH and Hugs!!! (waves at Bill) and .... give my precious pooch a smooch on the lips and tell her I love her.
You are so funny!!!!
You have NEVER given me anything that was not worth the work it took to tumble a beautiful rock. Now ... the tumbler (i.e Moi) is/was the cause of the very questionable outcome of tumbling these pieces (remember ... I'm the only one I know that can murder a geode).
Moonstone still baffles me! So I'm gonna leave those alone and let the master create from them. Now I may try to slice em up, work them on the Gryphon and then pop them in the vibe (have to make a big batch) for fine tuning. Then... gee darn .... I'll have to get off my lazy butt and wrap them.
I learn from the best from you and the other old dogs (and yes younger puppies) here at RTH. I'm a really old dog so I can call you guys old too. ;D
As for the river rock .... I'm hooked ... and like the obsidian ... I think I can say I will always try to find the point where they are natures perfect picture. They are amazing rocks! It never occurred to me how much beauty is inside each one.
As for the grinding, I agree 100%. I would prefer to rough grind these river rocks (and the Fires) down to the closest and most perfect surface. That way, whether they are in the vibe or Lortone, the 120 stage will be below minimum time needed and then off to pre and final.
As for the Fire Agates ... I want them perfect ... I want them to POP when they are done. But I am concerned that because of the depth of some of the natural pits and cracks, I will have to grind them to a smaller size than I would like. On the other hand ... maybe the smaller size would be best and then I will have to learn different methods of making some form of jewelry for them other than wrapping.
As always ... thanks for looking and I love the input.
Thanks to Papat and Tandl for posting and a big HI!!! to Paul!!

I really like the Oregon rocks. I have been hooked on them for years and have probably run close to 200 pounds of them so far. Most of mine come from around Brookings, OR.

Snuffy!!!! I can't wait to see yours!!!! Jo ... do you have any idea how happy you make everyone!! ? Well ... you make everyone REALLY happy!!! And hopefully I will do your river rocks justice when done! HUGS However ... I got a little over zealous last night ... and dammit to hell ... I started another new batch of rocks in one tumbler instead of continuing the agates. It's Jo's fault as she said some things about Obsidian. My eyes just glazed over and I HAD to start a new batch of my precious Obsidian's. The agates are on hold. The river rocks however are not on hold. I have now moved that batch to 120/220. I am getting so excited about this batch, I can hardly stand it!! Now ... since I have officially appeased the Photobucket gods for another year ... see new post about what the new and raw obsidian batch I started last night. As always!!!
