Hello everyone. My name is Cindy Briggs, I live i South Texas and I work on a ranch outside of George West Texas where petrified wood, jasper, agates, quartz abound. I', new to rockhounding and I love it. Since I found my first piece of petrified wood, I've been hooked. Rockhounds never die, they petrify. Look forward to hearing from other members. Cindy

Cindy: Welcome to the board! I am sure that you will soon discover how fortunate you are working on a Texas ranch and having access to the rock. You will have to post photographs of the ranch's different material. If you want identification, you have a neighbor ( Sabre52)and outstanding member of this board that can tell you what things are. I just joined this site & would like a little help. How do I introduce myself to everyone? I live in Calif. & have over 40 years of experience in the lapidary arts, over 2 tons of assorted rough stone (looking to trade some of my local for yours) Every Type of equipment up to a 24" saw, only missing a sphere machine & a faceter. Any help you can give will be GREATLY appreciated. Do you need any Howlite, Ulexite or Travertine? For your help, these are the local stone I have the most of. I'll send you some in a small USPS flat rate box. Maybe you'd then send me something you have locally.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have plenty of rock hounding opportunities. I am a BIG quartz lover, any kind of quartz. I tumble a lot of it. Have fun, that's the key, have fun! Ed M.
