Well, started to go for cabs with these but I think I'm going to finish polishing the up on the flat faces I've cut and keep them as display specimens instead. I think I know what a couple of these are but the rest, I have no clue. If you do please let me know. Tonight the wheels on the lap died, time to finally go buy all new, I got up to 600 on the polishing and after that they are just pathetic, so these aren't finished yet. 1. no idea 2. snowflake, easy to identify 3. back end of a geode or thunderegg from the shape 4. tourmalinated quartz 5. unknown 6. unknown, but absolutely gorgeous and took a shine like glass! I cut about 6 flat faces to polish 7. unknown but my favorite of the bunch

John at JS gems, if I forget to send you an email, do you sell 8" polishing pads for flat laps? I have 180, 325, 600 and 1200. I want to replace all four and add one level lower, like a 100. This is on a Hi-Tech flat lap with 1/2 arbor, all four are already backed on 1/2" thick aluminum backers. I have pics of them if needed....

3- Snowball agate-Mexico , don`t really like the name comes from the roundness of the nodules , the inside never looks like snow. 5- Montana agate .6- Looks like Ohio flint .

Those are really great. I agree 5 is Montana Agate and 6 could also be Mookite or Flint Ridge Flint from Ohio.

Great stuff, self-collected? No, so far the only stuff I've collected has been a bunch of geodes from southern Indiana and a bunch of rose quartz from NC, out of my yard. One day I'm going to go on a rockhounding trip...one day...
