I liked bdport's story about the couch-panic. I can just imagine how stressful that must have been! Send me your addy so I can mail your prize home. For today's prize, let's talk about kindnes and charity and it's different forms. What story do you have about unexpected kindness, charity or true compassion at Christmastime? The most heartwarming story wins today's prize, a malachite pendant: Vance

Vance, I am sharing this story because I feel very fortunate to have this young lady in my life. Her very nature makes our home warmer.
My husband and I are a bit conservative when it comes to fashion fads but from the moment I met Lyndsay, my son’s girlfriend, I liked her. With purple hair, tattoos and hooker boots in the middle of summer, (she calls them that and we laugh good naturedly) I expected her to be a bit loud but she is soft spoken and gentle and exudes goodness within.
This year she fell on hard times and she is living with us but she was already in our hearts. It took my husband a little extra time to really see her heart but this season it just shined so brightly.
My daughter came to me asking if I would take her to a fabric shop. “ Of course, but what do you need there” I asked. She answered “Well, when I asked Lyndsay what she wanted for Christmas, She said that she wanted me to make a blanket for a foundation that provides blankets and gifts to children who are in the hospital for cancer treatment.”
Hearing this just made my heart swell as this young woman who, while going to college is also working to make ends meet, set aside thoughts of herself for others.
The day after that conversation with my daughter, my son was sitting at the counter and just softly said “I love Lyndsay, My girlfriend has such a good heart.
I know there will be lots of beautiful stories and I also know that many will stem from those willing to share what little they have.
Whether fortunate or fallen on hard times, those who give from the heart makes everything worthwhile.

Amber, if I win, she will be getting that pendant but it doesn't matter who the winner is as we really are all winners here.
The heck with your eyesight, look what it did to your mascara! LOL.

Hey guys, where are all the stories? As much as I appreciate the comments and would like to see that pendant on Lyndsay, this will be the lonelist day in the 12 Days Before Christmas contest and there are so many many good hearted people and it's no fun being the only story on a Christmas thread. I don't wish to be the only participant on this one.
Please share your stories.

Let us not forget our service men far from home and in harm's way during the holiday season and their families who also sacrifice a great deal. They all give of their lives so others may remain free and have a happy holiday season.....Mel

Mel, you are so right. My son in law is in Afghanistan on his second tour. He really misses being with his family, especially at Christmas.

The best part of kindness and charity is 'Pay it Forward'. I have had some wonderful opportunities to do so!

I already won so I can tell one and Sitnwrap can still win this one.
When my sister, a single mom hit on some hard times, her daughter was 7. She couldn't afford christmas presents and was having a hard time making groceries. So my husband and I decided to play santa, literally. On christmas eve around midnight, we knocked on my sisters door with Barbie dolls and other toys along with food to last her about 3 months. In the morning, her daughter thought santa had been there, and my sister was sure of it. It sure felt good to help out in a time of need.
Merry Christmas to anyone who has ever lent a helping hand, any time of the year.
