Went back today to take some pics. This is where I grew up. My great nieces and nephews love the rocks, call this the rock garden. It's theirs to enjoy now. All these pics are of what we call gullies. They are washes at the edge of pastureland and drain into a large creek that cuts the place. The rocks are a mixture of pet wood, jaspers, quartzites. Adifferent wash. This is a 5-6 foot deep pile of stones in the main creek Another shot of the main pile. Found one I missed when I was younger.About 4 feet sticking out. Another one close to it. We do not have any native rock here except for the large pieces of pet wood. This county is underlain by a layer of this material just under the topsoil, washed in in ancient times. snuffy

That's a lot of rocks Snuff. I'll bet if you look long and close enough you could find an agate.

An interesting side note to this is I am located on the Catahoula geologic formation. It starts in South Texas and runs roughly parallel to the coast line through Texas, across Louisiana, Mississippi in a fairly narrow belt.Cindy Briggs in Beeville, Me,BeLinda, morerockspleaz,Tim,papat near Crockett,on to slabbcabber,Mark, in Louisiana all are on or next to this formation.None have a shortage of pet wood. snuffy
