Don't know what this is. Got it from catmandewe. It WILL NOT take a polish. Tried zam, cerium, tin and aluminum after 50k diamond. It is too soft to be agate or jasper, but has quartz in it that is hard. A pain to get even sanded. Has hematite in it, but is not messy like jasper/hematite. Has filework. Guess this one goes in the junk box. Thanks for looking, Ken

Looks like what we called red ribbon jasper in California. Usually fairly hard stuff but maybe you got a piece that was not well silicified. Sources in both Lavic area and around Earp, CA. beautiful knife Ken!.....Mel

Looks good in the pix. It is not. Even shows a shine(somewhat), but it is the light. Now I have 2 in the junk box. Was hoping someone could tell me why it won't shine. Been doing rocks 40 years and never experienced this. Ken

Well Ken, far be it from me to give you advise, but some rocks just won't polish to a wet look. Doesn't mean they're not still pretty (or should I say attractive, since it's a manly knife? LOL). Anyway, I'm with the popular opinion that it looks like a fantastic knife.
