I now use a raytech tumble vibe 5. --It's easy to "dump" the load and clean out the mud.--I'm thinking about getting a Lot O tumbler. From the pics I see of it it looks like it has a pretty small top. Is there any problem "dumping" the rocks out and cleaning the mud out with such a small lid? Maybe the pics are misleading. How big is the lid?? (inches?)
Thanks!

Hi there!
Just got a Lot-O to replace my broken and unfixable Raytech for Christmas. Raytech's last less than a year, they are..... well.... you know.
There is a learning curve with this tumbler. It's a little bit different but I abosolutely love it and love the fact that anything that fits through the lid can be polished (haven't tried that yet...) The lid is the same size as any dog/cat food or basically any canned food can. Lid is universal for swapping lids. That's a bonus! Plus, it is sooooo quiet compared to the Raytech!
I just fill with water, swish and dump. I use a garden hose spray nozzle fitting to clean it out. Doesn't seem any harder than my old Raytech. In fact, I like it much better, the rubber barrel seems so much easier to rinse out and clean.
If you are wanting to stick with the doughnut bowl type of configuration, I would suggest the UV-10. BikerRandy has an awesome thread on this machine and it is stickied at the top of the Rock Tumbling section.
The UV-10 would be the closest to the Raytech, albeit a much better machine!
Me? I'm digging the Lot-O!

Hi Lloyd, The Hole size is 2 1/4" Ive been using a Lot"O" for 3 years and dont have any problem with getting stones out I put a cup of water in a minuite or 2 before I take the load out and sometimes a squirt of washing up liquid The only time I have had any little difficultie and that was my own fault as I had half a dozen slabs in that were 2" + across and 3 1/2" long and had stuck together , But after 5 mins with a added cup of water everything came out Fine Lot"O" a brilliant machine and I would recomend it to anyone , I can polish from 220 Grit (2nd stage) in 9 days There is a good tutorial pinned on this section on the Lot"O"polishing Recepie, here is a link forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=tottumb&action=display&thread=29369&page=4This is Conrocks Recepie after about 10 years of experimenting ! ! ! Thanks Folks! That is exactly what I was needing. (Wow, "Rock" folks are really great people!)
One additional question though: If I order the Lot O with the two jugs: Do both jugs have to be filled when working? (Balanced??) Or can one be run by itself?
Thanks!

Someone else asked about the two barrel lot-o yesterday, and yes they both have to be used to balance the machine.
